Job Opportunity

Due to continued growth, Labman is looking to hire an experienced, enthusiastic, professional, hands-on Engineering Project Manager to deliver turnkey projects of up to £3m to our clients worldwide. They will successfully manage teams of like-minded engineers to ensure projects are delivered to an exceptional standard, on budget and on time. The projects are varied and at times challenging, but you will have the support and input from an experienced Labman team.

They will also facilitate and mentor the internal development of Labman employees in alignment with sustainability and expected future growth demands.

What the Job Involves

The projects you manage will vary in application and complexity. Depending on the scale of the jobs undertaken there will be times when you are managing multiple projects and teams. Your involvement will span the full project lifecycle from initial conception to successful delivery and continued support.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:

- Working closely with customers to understand initial requirements and develop initial proposals and costings

- Maintain a strong focus on priorities, holding others to account and swiftly respond to changing requirements

- Act as a role model by bringing positivity and a proactive approach to engineering

- Actively promote knowledge and resource sharing with peers and others within the business

- Organising projects by identifying short-term and long-range issues; preparing and maintaining project plans, cost estimates, and required resources

- Work collaboratively with customers to manage, monitor and deliver against commitments

- Develop robust business cases, with fully costed options identifying clear policy/technical advantages and/or returns on investment to assist decision making

The role is based in our North Yorkshire office but will require international travel from time to time

Essential Capabilities

- Bachelors or Masters Degree (or equivalent) in engineering discipline (Mechanical, electrical or software)

- Minimum of 2 years’ experience within project management

- Proven history of delivering projects successfully though the full life cycle on time, within budget and scope.

- Experience in developing detailed project plans and organising resource availability and allocation

- Experience working in a multi-disciplinary engineering & design environment

- A passion for understanding and solving complex engineering problems in a team environment

- Excellent communication skills

- Must be able to inspire and motivate a team and demonstrate strong influencing skills.

Desirable skills / experience

- Solidworks or similar CAD package

- Working on projects to ISO13485 or ISO9001 standards

- Strong understanding on machine safety and compliance standards

- Experience delivering automation or robotics projects

- Experience managing projects under a GMP framework

- Active contribution to community or social activities
