Job Opportunity

Due to the increasing demand for automated robotic systems, Labman is looking to hire an enthusiastic, self-motivated and professional Electro-Software Robotics Engineer to develop prototype projects and bring these to life and into working projects. This role will be based in and around the Bracknell & Windsor area however, the initial 6-12 months will be based at our HQ in North Yorkshire. The successful candidate will support an existing team and will be working within various engineering roles so will need to be adaptable. We’re looking for an enthusiastic engineer with a basic working knowledge of mechanical skills but who specializes in electronics and / or software

What the Job Involves:

  • Initial training at HQ in North Yorkshire then based Bracknell/Windsor area
  • Occasional visits to Labman HQ when based south
  • Design and develop prototype projects
  • Provide reactive fault diagnosis, repair, technical support etc
  • Working alongside a mechanical colleague to create a prototype system
  • Document and feedback customer information to HQ to improve future system design and customer experience.
  • Maintain effective quality systems and programs compliant with ISO 9001 standard.
  • Identify business opportunities, upgrades, and improvement of client systems.
  • Participate in continuous improvement meetings and activities and escalate processes and product quality gaps, providing solutions when possible.
  • Build on Labman’s reputation by collaborating professionally with the client, adding further value to the supply chain.
  • Optimise own work schedule by coordinating with all the necessary parties for support planning/scheduling (support team, clients, project leaders, suppliers, etc.).
  • Log and document all work according to internal guidelines.
  • Update own knowledge of technology by tracking and understanding emerging electro-software & mechanical technologies and practices, participating in educational and professional opportunities.


Essential Capabilities

  • Electro-software knowledge, basic mechanical knowledge
  • Experience with microcontrollers, design and programming
  • Any object orientated programming experience
  • Electrical knowledge (basic electrical competence and safety standards. Knowledge of CE)
  • Basic mechanical knowledge
  • Ability to identify issues, diagnose faults and provide relevant solutions
  • Ability to multi-task

Preferred Capabilities

  • Working knowledge of computer vision / image processing
  • Ability to identify issues, diagnose faults and provide relevant solutions
  • Knowledge of database design & principles – in particular my sql
  • C# experience
  • Experience of PCB design and common industry practices
  • Based in or around the Bracknell area
  • Willingness to travel within the UK and overseas occasionally
  • Willingness to train in North Yorkshire for 6-12 months
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative and prioritise work
  • Customer oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated organizational skills
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Driving license, maximum 3 points

For this role we offer a generous salary package, subject to experience, including laptop and mobile phone.
